Processor 2.9GHz

2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz, with 8MB shared L3 cache
In comparison to 2.8GHz in cheaper model 2.9GHz doesn't seem like a big deal but 8MB L3 cache compare to 6MB makes a difference.

macOS Recovery USB Disk

Create your recovery USB flash disk for macOS

There are quite rare cases when your Mac fails to boot normally, maybe because you messed up something with your system disk, and that's when it becomes extremely useful to have bootable installer for macOS ready.

Download latest macOS installer from the App Store

  1. Download latest installer from the Mac App Store. The installer downloads to your Applications folder as a single file with a name that begins ”Install”. For example: Install macOS High Sierra.
  2. If the installer opens automatically after downloading, quit the installer.
  3. Mount the USB flash drive, external hard drive, secondary internal partition, or other storage media that will contain the install media. Make sure that it has at least 12GB of available storage space.
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ --volume /Volumes/MyVolume --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\
